ALUMINUM RECYCLING

FACTS

Aluminum is a material that can be recycled infinitely.

Recycling aluminum scrap requires only 5% of the energy needed to produce new aluminum from raw bauxite ore.

In Poland, the recycling rate for beverage cans reached 79% in 2021. In some European countries, the recycling rate exceeds 95% (Germany, Finland).

CARING FOR THE ENVIRONMENT IS OUR SHARED RESPONSIBILITY

We periodically conduct detailed risk analyses of all processes regarding environmental protection, verify their performance results, and work on improvements to enhance their efficiency. Our facility undergoes internal audits and an annual compliance assessment with ISO 9001:2015 conducted by independent certification bodies.

We have our own laboratory to precisely determine all indicators related to the level of contamination of incoming waste. If the waste does not meet the requirements, the delivery is not accepted.

AT AMS METAL, WE KNOW HOW TO CARE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Our action plan is based on the circular economy – a concept that treats waste as resources that can return to the production process, reducing the industry’s impact on the environment. Waste materials undergo the longest possible life cycle, allowing them to be reused, resulting in savings and a reduction in the amount of waste in circulation. AMS Metal has been operating in accordance with the circular economy for years, exemplified by the extensive use of non-ferrous metal scrap as secondary raw materials in our production processes with our Partners. An example is the aluminum cans that, after being cleaned and processed by our qualified employees, are packed on pallets and sent to smelters and foundries.

We also support producer responsibility by completing the required legal documents for recycling products in packaging.

WE KNOW OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT

AMS Metal, in cooperation with Silk Road Certification, has calculated the organization’s carbon footprint.

SGS Polska – an independent verifier, confirmed that the carbon footprint of AMS Metal Sp. z o.o. is in accordance with the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard.

DECISION ON COLLECTING AND PROCESSING WASTE

In accordance with Article 226a of the Waste Act (consolidated text of 2023, item 1587) and Article 193 para. 1 point 1c of the Environmental Protection Law (consolidated text of 2024, item 54), the Company submitted an application for a new decision on waste collection and processing within the required timeframe, thus the current permit is valid until December 31, 2025.

We are changing for the sake of the environment:

  • We invest in renewable energy sources,
  • We reduce energy consumption by installing energy-efficient devices,
  • We have a fleet of vehicles that meet the latest emission standards.
AMS Metal has implemented the requirements of the EU Council Regulation No. 333/2011 of March 31, 2011, establishing criteria determining when certain types of scrap cease to be waste under the Directive of the European Parliament and Council 2008/98/EC, as confirmed by the certificate issued by TÜV NORD.
