Increasing the company’s competitiveness through the implementation of a new aluminum recycling line and improving warehouse logistics efficiency

“AMS METAL” LIMITED LIABILITY COMPANY has obtained funding from the European Union under the European Funds for Silesia 2021-2027 (Just Transition Fund) for the implementation of a project entitled: “Increasing the company’s competitiveness through the implementation of a new aluminum recycling line and improving warehouse logistics efficiency.” Action: FESL.10.03 Support for SMEs for transformation.

The project aims to invest in line with the Just Transition Plan. The headquarters of AMS Metal is located in Siemianowice Śląskie, in industrial areas adjacent to the former Jedność steel mill, which operated from 1836 to 2003. The implementation of the investment will contribute to the further economic growth of degraded post-industrial areas. The project will help achieve the program’s goal of responsible and effective socio-economic transformation of the Silesian Voivodeship, moving towards climate neutrality, diversifying the region’s economy, and increasing its level of innovation. In addition to the location aspect, the project aligns with the program’s objectives by reducing environmental impact, incorporating renewable energy solutions—photovoltaics, increasing employment in non-energy-related industries, restoring the original function of former industrial areas, and preventing groundwater contamination by changing the way materials are stored.

The project aims to purchase modern machines and equipment that will enable the introduction of process innovation, resulting in an improved product obtained from the aluminum recycling process. The project also includes improving warehouse logistics efficiency, increasing storage capacity, and introducing more environmentally friendly solutions in the form of new warehouse and technical infrastructure and machinery. All these actions will contribute to sustainable development, emission reduction, and better resource management at the storage site. Additional project outcomes will include a positive environmental impact related to waste processing and increased competitiveness.

The project’s implementation will lead to the adoption of a Circular Economy: The planned investment involves purchasing equipment that will help automate the production process on the one hand and significantly increase its efficiency on the other. The production line has been designed in a sustainable manner. The construction of a photovoltaic installation will significantly reduce resource use. The result will be better waste management (reducing the amount of waste and industrial wastewater) and increased use of environmentally friendly technologies and renewable energy sources in Polish industry, as well as increased employment in the non-mining sector and the restoration of economic functions to areas that have been unused for years.

The main recipients of AMS Metal’s products are steel mills and metal product manufacturers, who require deliveries of raw materials (metal scrap) with a strictly defined and consistent chemical composition (according to precise specifications detailing the percentage content of individual elements and the allowable level of impurities in the delivered metal scrap). Thanks to the project’s implementation, AMS Metal will be able to meet the highest standards and customer requirements.
